Marchant Reaffirms Protections for Preexisting Conditions, Calls for Commonsense Legislation to Fix Our Healthcare System

Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) gave remarks reaffirming his support for protecting individuals with preexisting conditions during today’s Ways and Means Committee hearing, the first of the 116th Congress.

He also called on the Committee to work on legislation to fix our broken healthcare system, prioritizing bills that can actually pass out of Congress to be signed by the President.

“I want to make sure that my constituents back home know that I support protecting access to healthcare for all patients with preexisting conditions. We all agree that protecting these individuals is necessary, and I look forward to working on policy solutions that address the uncertainty that surrounds these individuals. Sadly, current law is riddled with problems that have made it a litigator’s dream and a patient’s nightmare,” said Congressman Marchant. “My constituents need certainty that coverage will be available and affordable. I hope that Democrats in Congress will bring bipartisan solutions to the table instead of partisan rhetoric.”
