| A Bad Deal with Iran |
Find the full text of the deal here |
I strongly oppose the administration’s nuclear agreement with Iran. This deal abandons our long-standing policy of preventing a nuclear-capable Iran and settles for simply managing Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The agreement provides Iran with billions of dollars in permanent sanctions relief. All Iran must provide in return are temporary concessions and compliance with short-term restrictions that can easily be manipulated. Iran will not even have to cheat on the agreement to maintain a nuclear program because the deal allows vast Iranian nuclear infrastructure to remain intact.
This is a bad deal that rewards the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and jeopardizes the security of the U.S. and our allies – especially Israel. I will vote to reject the agreement when it comes before the House. |

| Planned Parenthood |
| In response to the recently released video of Planned Parenthood’s Deborah Nucatola detailing the organization’s sale of human organs harvested from unborn children, I have written the Attorney General to demand an immediate investigation of the alleged criminal activity of Planned Parenthood and its affiliates. In that letter I also pressed Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen to investigate the matter as it relates to Planned Parenthood’s tax-exempt status as a non-profit organization.
Planned Parenthood’s alleged actions are unconscionable and in clear violation of federal law. I fully support the announcement of upcoming investigations by both the House Judiciary Committee and Energy & Commerce Committee. But Conrgess should not stop there in standing up for the dignity of human life. I have consistently worked to advance measures that limit abortion and have also been a long-time advocate for defunding Planned Parenthood. I will continue working to advance these efforts to protect life.
My letter to the Attorney General and IRS Commissioner can be found here. |
| Kate’s Law |
| I took to the House floor this week to build support for the Establishing Mandatory Minimums for Illegal Reentry Act – also known as “Kate’s Law.” This bill, of which I’m an original cosponsor, mandates five-year minimum prison sentences for individuals who return to the U.S. illegally after being deported. The legislation also strengthens the rule of law by leaving no room for selective enforcement by the Executive branch or any sanctuary city.
“Kate’s Law” comes in direct response to the senseless murder of Kate Steinle in San Francisco by a man who had been deported five times. We cannot undo this tragedy, but we must work to prevent others by securing the border and strictly enforcing the law. |

| Constituents Visiting Washington |
| I had the pleasure of meeting with Kate Feigner and her mom, Amy, who were in town from Colleyville. Kate was in Washington raising awareness about type I diabetes as a delegate of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s 2015 Children’s Congress. Hats off to Kate for all she is doing to make a difference in the lives of children with type I diabetes. |

- The House unanimously passed S. 984, the Steve Gleason Act. This legislation overturns an onerous regulation that makes it difficult for individuals suffering from ALS to access speech-generation devices. The bill now heads to the president’s desk. Read more about it here.
