U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) presented overdue service medals to three veterans, Robert L. Davenport of Grapvine, Tommy C. Daves of Euless, and Thomas P. Trautman of Southlake.
“It is an honor and privilege to present to each veteran his earned medals,” said Congressman Marchant. “These men served in many different capacities which are all reputable roles and vital to our nation’s security and freedom.”
Robert L. Davenport served in the United States Army and was a vehicle mechanic in Kuwait and Iraq. Davenport was recognized with several overdue medals, badges, and ribbons including the Army Commendation Medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral two, Driver and Mechanic Badge with mechanic bar, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, and Korea Defense Service Medal.
Tommy C. Daves served in the United States Army and fought in Vietnam in 1968. Medals, badges and ribbon presented to Daves for his war time service included the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with 1960 device, Expert Badge with rifle bar, and the Sharpshooter Badge with auto rifle bar.
Thomas P. Trautman served in the United States Air Force. The medal presented by Congressman Marchant to Trautman for his service included the Good Conduct Medal. This medal is awarded to a soldier who distinguishes himself or herself among fellow soldiers through commendable performance and loyalty while enlisted.
Many veterans like these men are unaware that when they left the service for civilian life they were due medals. Congressman Marchant believes all veterans deserve recognition no matter the length of time that has passed since service.
