Congressman Marchant Presents Awards to Outstanding Students



Euless Harmony Science Academy

 

Washington, May 11, 2010 - U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX – 24) presented awards on Tuesday, May 11 to students from Euless and Grand Prairie Harmony Science Academies.  The students were recognized in the Congressman’s district office for their high achievements in state-wide science competitions.    

The Congressman awarded each student with a certificate of Congressional recognition.  After being awarded, each student described to the Congressman the details of their science projects.

The science projects ranged from determining the best stain removal in the market to an analysis of the carbon emissions and how it affects the environment.

Following the awards presentation Marchant said, “I am honored to recognize your achievements today.  The projects you explained were wonderfully creative and intelligent.  You all deserve every bit of recognition for your hard work.”

The students received high honors in a number state-wide competitions including Science Olympiad held at the Texas A&M University, State Level Science Fair Competition held at the University of Texas San Antonio, International Sustainable World Competition held in Houston, and Fort Worth Regional Science and Engineering Fair.   

Harmony Science Academy is charter school program that emphasizes the studies of math and science.  There are thirty-two Harmony Science Academies throughout the state of Texas.  

The honored students with their grade years were: (Euless) Zachary Taqi – 6th, Ariana Masumoto – 6th, Kayla Ortego – 8th, Elliot Dobbs – 8th, Taiyeb Rangwalla – 7th, Aneesha Puppala – 7th, Shruti Kumar – 8th; (Grand Prairie) Loc Hoang – 9th, Alejandro Waumann – 9th, Ty Curry – 7th, Khalid Shqeir – 7th, Esteban Lopez – 9th, and Adrian Rodriguez – 9th.
